Her eyes

March 8, 2010

Her eyes,

Filled to the brim with concern for her children.

Bequeath immeasurable love to the man in her life.

Tell stories of endurance, of hope.

Her eyes,

The tears in them go unnoticed

The questions in them unanswered.

How much longer should she cope?

This International Women’s Day, think about this question. How much longer?

I feel women – in fact each woman is the best one to answer this one. We can help make this ‘no longer’ if we just decide to.

Most women suffer because of the society they live in. If they are willing to fight back, nothing like it.

I agree IHM. Women need to take a stand for themselves, and each other. But sadly, there are a lot of women who are perpetrators in making other women suffer. I have no clue what can be done about this.

    Wonderful post! 🙂
A change of perspective is needed from our society’s end – at the earliest – for those tears to stop existing. That would become possible in a decade or so (hopefully).
    Happy Womens’ Day! 🙂

I agree with IHM..it’s the woman who can define ‘properly and fairly’ who long should she continue 🙂

    How much longer?
    Depends entirely on the woman.

She needs to stop caring when she is not being cared for.
Stop protecting when she is not being respected.
And stop loving when she’s not being Loved.

I know of a girl who’s beaten up by her brothers and father. And the mother stands by it.
I know of a lady who puts up with her husband who meanders with other women in full public view in a hope to ‘save’ her marriage.

Sadly, the society won’t help her. Because she choses sensitive resilience over relentless fightback.
Honour, pride and Love are words thrown at women, appealing to a side she nurteres. To make her put up with bullshit.

Frankly, women need to stop being this spectacular edifice of sacrifice and caring touch.
Till what she can contribute is respected.

There are only 748 women for a 1000 guys.
Women can walk away. Women can move on.
Women can chose well. Women can fight back.
Women, sure as hell, don’t have to put up with assholes.

I also know of a girl, who’s smart and beautiful, dating an obnoxious guy who treats her like a show piece, cursing her in full public view, making sexual jokes amongst close friends, while she is around. She loves him to bits. And that beats me.

But then I know it’s easier said than done.
I hated it all my life if ever father would raise his voice at mother in my presence.
It took me a good 25 years to make it clear that I will not tolerate it.
And I’m lucky my parents respect that.

I’ve been around stong women in my growing years. My best friends are some of the toughest ladies I know. So for me, the only way to end this is zero tolerance.

If you need a heping hand, you’ll find one at the end of your arm. Use it. Throw the first stone. And the mob can follow.

    How long you asked?
Well, for as long as it takes.

couldnt agree with u more dear… very well said we need to stand up for ourselves

its high time because if we dont no one else will and hell why should be even expect anyone else to help us when we dont want to help ourselves

i know a couple of characters like u who will suffer but refuse to stand up

how much longer? going by the track record, for the next couple of centuries! unless we take things in our hands and make some serious changes…

  14. March 20, 2010 2:15 pm

Hey, do u know anything about Manushee?

  15. March 23, 2010 5:35 pm

I feel that no one can make anyone feel terribly bad, unless the person allows it.
The lady will cope as long as she wants. Because if she doesn’t want to, the entire world will be hers.
